   Like most people I read many reviews both good and bad prior to purchase. The product arrived in 3 days. Assembly was effortless. Total assembly lasted 20-30 minutes. The rower is easy to use and the monitor allows a just row funtion. The pull handle and chain provide a smooth and quiet row. For those who are bored easily, try music or watch a movie and time will fly. My only complaint is the foot rests should be pernament attached. Overall this rowing machine is worth the money for Concept2 Model D Rower.

   
   

2. The very best fitness investment!!

   I have owned my Concept2 Model D Rower since the early 90's. I keep the chain clean and oiled and have used it regularly without incident. It is sturdy and seemingly indestructible and I imagine it will outlive me. I have used just about every kind of fitness equipment there is and was a runner until running just wasn't a good choice for my lower extremities and my Concept2 has always been my reliable and accommodating foundation for working out. Over the years I have had different foot, ankle and leg injuries from running and other less conservative physical activities and my rower has allowed me to rehab quickly and regain my strength and function. I have even used it with a cast on my lower leg! I love this machine. It is like a faithful friend. The rhythmic motion and sound is like a moving meditation when you need to quiet your mind, or you can push your workout to amazing new levels with hard intervals. All else in life may fall away, but I will always have my Concept2 Model D Rower.

   Okay, so you can buy a cheaper rower for about 1/2 the price. But I did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews. Cheaper rowers, as I have found, will break within a few years. Where as after reading all the Concept 2 Model D reviews, it's more of a life time commitment. They use these machines in some sort of international rowing competition, and to me, means a great deal. I have seen the exact same one in a few different gyms too.
   
   Here is my thought process - spend $450 on a cheap rowing machine that got mediocre reviews, that may or may not break down in 3 or 4 years.
   
   OR...
   
   Spend $900 on a rowing machine that gets 5 star reviews, are used in international competitions, and in various health clubs.
   
   I've own this machine for about a month now, it feels solid and smooth. I'm very satisfied on Concept2 Model D Rower!

   
   

4. Rowing thru the Panama Canal

   I wanted an exercise machine for an upper body workout and I got more than what I bargained for+++. It came in a coffin sized box and this 65 yr old single lady figured how to put it together easily. It's about 9 feet long and a foot wide. Excitedly, the first day, I rowed 25 strokes/minute for an hour. The second day-the same. It's quiet and I could watch TV while becoming a row master. That night, I thought my butt ached. Next morning realized I had rowed my tailbone to oblivion and had blister on it!!! I overdid it. Solution: covered the seat with a pad I had on a barstool. Perfect. Also could wear padded biker shorts, and while my blister healed, stuck a sanitary napkin in the seat of my pants for more cushioning. Jump to two weeks later...blister is gone. Have curtailed my rowing to 30 minute sessions which I find is ideal. I get a tremendous arm, upper back, leg and butt workout without the pressure on my joints. I highly recommend the machine. BTW, I own a treadmill that I had to have repaired. The repairman was the person who recommended the Concept 2 Rowing machine. He was so right.

   
   

5. 3,780,000+ meters for me

   I started rowing at my gym, where they used the concept2 model D. After awhile, I found that mostly what I was doing at the gym was using the rower, so I decided to buy my own. Maybe expensive, but not really when I know that I'll probably be using this rower for the rest of my life (I'm 40 now). It holds up really well. The concept2s at the gym are used heavily and show no signs of wear other than that the instructional stickers on the frame have been worn off.
   
   I have put over 3,780,000 meters on mine with 488 workouts with an average time per workout of 45 minutes. It has held up beautifully with very little maintenance other than occasionally lubing the chain (which is very easy to do; I prefer to use my bike lube).
   
   I really like that they send you the concept2 newsletter as well and it has been useful and motivating. You also become a member of this concept2 user community that is out there and you can post your stats on the web site and compete in events and stuff, though I haven't done these things yet. It is nice to be part of the community even if you don't really participate in it.
   
   I like to watch tv as I row. I do have to turn up the volume fairly loud (the rower is not noisy exactly, but it can be hard to hear dialog sometimes; dvds with no english subtitles piss me off). The sound of the rower itself is actually kind of relaxing and sounds similar to a fan being turned off and on).
   
   This and my powerblock weight set are investments I'm really happy with and I'll be using for the rest of my life.
